A TRIBUTE TO LES BEEVERS

Sadly, after a hard fought battle against cancer, our chairman Les Beevers died in December.
Les was a good gardener, he even managed to grow lovely roses, no mean feat on our heathland thin sand, and our clean coastal air. He raised vast amounts of bedding plants for our annual sale, and when in season brought up his surplus rhubarb, raspberries and runner beans to raise funds. He always submitted a lovely bloom from his colourful garden fro best flower of the month competition.
He will be greatly missed at the garden club and we have lost a loyal member of our community.

If you have any memories of Les which you would like to share with gardening club members, please use the following form to send them to us. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose.

Cllr Fred Drane
The sad loss of Leslie Beevers who died in December 2007 will be felt by every organisation in Upton. Les was always there by my side at every demonstration I have organised when campaigning for better conditions in Lytchett Minster and Upton. He was a man for the People and felt strongly that improvements needed to be made.
Les was involved in the creation of the Community Centre and helped with fund raising and in many other ways. I know of no other praise to give Les than he was a humble man with strong feelings and few words who led by example.

John Edge
As a true Yorkshireman Les was a man of few words but made up for that by being a man of action. Whenever and wherever something needed doing, Les was there quietly getting on with it and without making a fuss.
He was an example to all and I am sure will be much missed in the community.

The Clarion
The Clarion Management Group were so sorry to hear of the death of Les Beevers.
Les was one of our 'unsung heroes', always reliable and a much appreciated member of The Clarion team. Every month he would set up the tables, put out the pages of the magazine and return later to clear up and put away equipment. We know this was only a part of the work he did towards various groups in the local community and he will be sadly missed by many.
